This October, Ovations is running hands-on IBM Bob technical workshops for architects, senior developers, application owners, and DevOps leads, in two cities.
- Johannesburg: The Leonardo, Wednesday 7 October, 9:30 to 13:00 (arrival from 9:00)
- Cape Town: First Distribution offices, Thursday 8 October, 9:30 to 13:00 (arrival from 9:00)
Each session is an interactive workshop, Agentic Software Delivery in Action, combining a technical presentation with a live sandbox hands-on lab, limited to 15 attendees.

What the workshop covers
The session opens with a look at the shift from line-by-line autocomplete to agentic AI: multi-agent execution, orchestration, and task delegation, with cost control, governance, and auditability through Bobalytics.
From there, three lab sessions cover:
- Navigating real codebases and literate coding, using Ask and Plan modes to map complex code dependencies and understand legacy application logic safely, without editing, and using subagents for contextual engineering to digest complex repositories in parallel without blowing up context windows or costs
- Enterprise modernisation and pipeline automation: Java and legacy uplift, refactoring monolithic logic, updating deprecated frameworks, and handling repository-wide changes, plus Bob Shell for running Bob from the command line, scripting repetitive engineering tasks, and embedding checks into CI/CD pipelines
- Security, MCP integrations, and governance: connecting Bob safely to enterprise APIs, internal databases, and monitoring systems such as Instana and Red Hat, plus managing .bobignore files, enterprise permissions, and local governance compliance (POPIA)
The session closes with an interactive architecture Q&A, reviewing real-world enterprise benchmarks and ROI calculation, open floor Q&A on landing Bob safely inside client architectures, and the option to book an individual enterprise Proof-of-Concept architectural review.
Attendees are encouraged to bring an anonymised code snippet, architectural diagram, or legacy upgrade challenge from their own environment to run against Bob during Lab 2. Each session is co-delivered by a lead Ovations Solution Architect facilitating the labs, paired with an IBM Technical Specialist supporting individual attendees on the floor.
